Where you’re losing work right now

Most trades don’t lose jobs because of the work. They lose them when someone checks them out and doesn’t like what they find. Here’s what trades tell me, and how a site sorts it.

  • You: I’ve got a Facebook page. Isn’t that enough?

Josh: Facebook’s good for updates, but a .co.uk site of your own looks more established and is yours to keep, not Facebook’s.

  • You: I’ve got a website, but it never brings in any work.

Josh: I’ll rebuild it around what wins jobs: your work, your services and an easy way to get in touch.

  • You: I miss calls when I’m up a ladder.

Josh: Customers WhatsApp you or send the form with the job, postcode and photos, so you don’t lose them while you work.

  • You: I’m paying for leads on MyBuilder and Bark.

Josh: Enquiries from your own site come with no fee per lead, and they don’t go to other firms as well.

  • You: I get enquiries miles out of my area.

Josh: Your services and towns are spelled out, and the form asks for a postcode, so you can tell straight away if it’s one for you.

  • You: I get loads of small jobs, but not the ones I actually want.

Josh: Tell me the work you want more of, and your site leads with it. Everything else still gets a mention.

  • You: I haven’t got time to sort a website.

Josh: Twenty minutes on the phone and a few photos. I write it, build it and host it.

Why it matters

Even when you’ve been recommended, people look you up first.

  1. Hears your name

A recommendation, your van or a flyer.

  2. Looks you up

They search for you before they ring.

  3. Finds your site

Your work, your services and the areas you cover.

  4. Messages you

A call, WhatsApp or the contact form, straight to you.

My services

What I build for you

Whether it’s a new site or a redesign, every site is built around the five things customers check before they ring, so it’s easy for them to pick up the phone.

  • They ask “What do you do?”

    Your services, written clearly

What you do, in plain words near the top. Customers know in seconds you take on their kind of job, so the right ones get in touch.

  • They ask “Do you cover my area?”

    The areas you cover

Your towns listed clearly, so customers know you’ll come to them and enquiries come from where you actually work.

  • They ask “Can I see your work?”

    A gallery of your jobs

Your best photos, tidied up and labelled by job. It’s proof you’ve done work like theirs before.

  • They ask “Can I trust you?”

    Your reviews and experience

Who you are, your experience or qualifications, and what customers say. It gives them a reason to pick you over the next name.

  • They ask “How do I get hold of you?”

Call, WhatsApp and a quote form

One tap from anywhere on the page, so enquiries don’t slip through while you’re mid-job.

How it works

Three steps, live in as little as a week

You give me 20 minutes on the phone and send a few photos. I do the rest and keep you posted as it comes together.

  1. We talk it through

We start with a short call to go through your services, the areas you cover, the work you want to promote and what you need from your website.

  2. I build your website

I turn what you’ve told me into a professional website, writing the copy and building everything around your business, services and work.

  3. You approve it. I launch it.

You review the finished website and request any final changes. Once you’ve approved it, you pay the agreed price and I connect your domain and get it live.

If you don’t approve it, you don’t pay.

FAQ

Common questions

Word of mouth gets you the recommendation, but most people still look you up before they ring. Your website is what they find when they do, and it’s what makes them pick up the phone. Why word of mouth and a website work together.

Then you don’t pay. I build your site first, you look it over and ask for any changes. If it’s still not right for you, you walk away owing nothing.

Yes. If your site looks dated, is slow on phones or just doesn’t bring in work, I can rebuild it around what wins jobs. See how a redesign works, or if you’re not sure what’s holding it back, get a free website check.

If you mainly need somewhere for people to check you out, Starter’s one page covers it: what you do, your work, the areas you cover and how to get in touch. Trade gives you room for separate pages, like one for each main service or a bigger gallery. Pro suits firms covering a wider area who want pages for more services or towns. Not sure? Get in touch and I’ll recommend one, or compare packages. What a trade website costs, route by route.

A one-page site is usually ready to review in about a week, a Trade site in about two weeks and a Pro site in two to three weeks. I’ll give you a date on our first call, and if anything’s likely to take longer, I’ll tell you straight away.

No. We have a 20-minute call about your business, you send me some photos of your work, and I write and build the rest.

Yes. I’ll build the site around your logo and colours. If you don’t have a logo, the site can use your business name in a clean, simple style.

Yes, it’s yours once you’ve paid for it, with no lock-in. Hosting and support are included for the first 12 months. After that it’s £19 a month, rolling, so you can cancel anytime. If you do, I’ll send you the files and transfer your domain so you can host it wherever you like.

Keep them. Your website is the one place that’s fully yours: your work, your reviews and your number, with no other firms listed next to you.

Every site is set up for local searches, with your services, your area and the towns you cover, so Google knows what you do and where. It works best alongside your Google Business Profile. No web designer can honestly promise a set position on Google, and I won’t either. What else helps you show up locally.

Yes. Send me what you want changing, like new job photos or an updated service, and I’ll sort it. Content updates are £30 an hour, and most take minutes. New sections or design changes are quoted separately.

No. I’m based in Sowerby Bridge but work with trades anywhere in the UK. Everything’s sorted by phone, WhatsApp or email.
