Why a website?

People want to see your work before they trust you with theirs.

Most joinery work still comes from recommendations, Instagram and Facebook, and that’s no bad thing. But before someone lets you build in their home, they’ll usually look you up.

Three reasons it’s worth having one

  1. Make your workmanship easy to judge

Wardrobes, media walls and staircases are bought on how they look. On a feed, your best jobs sit between months of other posts. On your own site they’re the first thing people see, grouped so they can find a job like theirs.

  2. Answer their questions before they ring

What you make, the materials you use and the areas you cover, all in one place, so the people who get in touch already know you’re right for the job.

  3. Sell bespoke, not just fitting

Make it clear you design and build, so people come to you for made-to-measure work rather than flat-pack.

What I’d build for you

Everything a joinery customer checks before they ring

Built around the jobs you want more of, with room for the detail that sells joinery. The screenshots are from Elite Interior, a joinery site I built in Huddersfield.

  1. They ask “Do you do what I need?”

Service pages that bring in the work you want

“Joinery” covers everything from hanging a door to building a staircase. Customers want to know quickly whether you do their kind of job, and whether you make it, fit it or both.

    What you get

    • Your main services near the top, led by the jobs you want more of
    • Plain descriptions of each one: made to measure or fitted, and whether you supply materials
    • On Trade and Pro, a separate page for each main service, like wardrobes, kitchens or media walls
    • Everything else you do still listed, without crowding out the work you want

Jobs your site could lead with

    • Fitted wardrobes
    • Alcove storage
    • Media walls
    • Kitchens
    • Bespoke furniture
    • Staircases
    • Doors and second fix
The services section of Elite Interior’s website: bespoke wardrobes and storage, media walls, first and second fix, doors and finish joinery, flooring and general joinery
Six services, each explained in a line, on Elite Interior’s site
  2. They ask “How good is your work?”

Galleries that sell the detail, and the price

Joinery sells on the finish. Clean joints, tight scribes and neat mitres are hard to judge on a small feed, but easy to see in a proper gallery.

    What you get

    • Your best jobs grouped by type, so a wardrobe customer sees wardrobes
    • Close-ups of joints, edges and finishes next to the wide shots
    • Before-and-after photos where you have them
    • Your phone photos cropped, colour-corrected and compressed so they look sharp and load fast
Elite Interior’s gallery of real project photos: fitted storage under a sloping ceiling, oak doors, a herringbone floor, timber stud walls and a new staircase balustrade
Real project photos in Elite Interior’s gallery. Each one opens larger
  3. They ask “Can I trust you in my home?”

A reputation that wins the job before you quote

Bespoke work is a big spend, with someone in the house for days. Reviews, experience and a real person behind the business give people the confidence to get in touch.

    What you get

    • Genuine Google reviews, shown near your work
    • How long you’ve been at it, plus insurance and memberships where you hold them
    • An about section, so people know who’ll be turning up
    • Only real reviews and credentials, never made-up ones
Elite Interior’s Google reviews section: a 5.0 rating and three five-star reviews about fitted wardrobes, internal woodwork and bespoke units
Elite Interior’s Google reviews, shown on the site
  4. They ask “Do you cover my area?”

Found by people searching in your area

People search for the job and the town, like “fitted wardrobes Huddersfield” or “carpenter Leeds”. Your site has to say clearly what you do and where before Google can match you to those searches.

    What you get

    • The towns you cover, listed on the pages that matter
    • Page titles, headings and descriptions that name your joinery work and your area
    • Your business details set up so search engines can read them, linked to your Google Business Profile if you have one
    • On Pro, pages for the main towns you cover. Good foundations, but nobody can honestly promise a ranking
Elite Interior’s areas section: based in Huddersfield and working across West Yorkshire, with a map of Huddersfield, Halifax and Manchester
Core areas and travel, made clear on Elite Interior’s site
  5. They ask “How do I get a quote?”

More quote requests, with less back and forth

Someone planning a wardrobe usually just wants to know whether you can help. The fewer steps between them and you, the fewer enquiries slip away.

    What you get

    • Tap-to-call and WhatsApp buttons, plus a bar that stays at the bottom of the screen on phones
    • A short enquiry form that comes straight to you, with spam protection built in
    • Fields that ask for the type of job and the town, so you can reply properly
    • Built and tested on phones first, and quick to load on a weak signal
Elite Interior’s contact section: a quote form asking for name, phone or email, location, type of project and details, with a link to WhatsApp

A real joinery website

A joinery website I’ve built

Elite Interior had their work on Instagram, but nowhere to send people who wanted to see it properly or ask for a quote.

Client · Joinery · Huddersfield

Elite Interior

Rory’s joinery business only had Instagram. I built him a site that leads with bespoke wardrobes and storage, shows real project photos and asks the right questions in the quote form. It went live 4 days after our first call.

From the client

“I didn’t really know what I wanted at first, but he came up with the design and sorted everything for me… I’d definitely recommend him.”

Who builds it

Built by someone who knows the trades

I’ve worked in general building for over eight years. I know what it’s like to be on site all day, then quote jobs, answer customers and keep the business going around the actual work, with most of it coming from recommendations.

I’m not a joiner, and I won’t pretend to be. But I know the difference between a site that shows off bespoke work and one that just lists “general carpentry”. Yours leads with your best work and the jobs you want more of, and makes ringing you the easy next step. You deal with me throughout, not a sales team.

How it works

Three steps, live in as little as a week

You don’t need to become a web designer or a copywriter. A short call and some photos of your work, and I handle the writing, design and technical side.

  1. We talk it through

A short call about what you do, the jobs you want more of (bespoke wardrobes rather than second fix, say), the areas you cover and the work you’re proudest of.

  2. I build your website

I write the copy around those jobs, pick your best photos for the gallery and build the site in your branding. You don’t have to write a word.

  3. You approve it. I launch it.

You check it and ask for any changes. Once you’ve approved it, you pay and it goes live.

If you don’t approve it, you don’t pay.

After the first year, hosting is £19 a month. It’s rolling, so you can cancel anytime.

What’s one extra job worth to you?

Move the sliders to your own numbers. This works out turnover, what customers pay you, not profit.

Extra turnover

£9,600 a year

A Trade website is £495, paid once you’re happy with it. One or two jobs could cover it.

An illustration using your figures. It isn’t profit, and it isn’t a promise of extra work.

FAQ

Questions joiners ask

Keep both. A recommendation gets your name passed on, and your site is what backs it up when someone checks. It’s also the one place with no other joiners suggested next to you. Why word of mouth and a website work together.

No. I build your site first, you look it over and ask for any changes. You only pay once you’re happy with it. If it’s still not right for you, you walk away owing nothing.

No. Photos from your phone are fine. Send me what you’ve got, from finished kitchens and wardrobes to staircases, and I’ll pick the best, crop them and prepare them for the gallery. A good close-up of a joint or a finish often does more than a wide shot of the room. I can also tell you which jobs are worth photographing, and you can send more to add later. How to take better photos of your work.

Yes. On Trade and Pro each type of work gets its own page and gallery, so someone after fitted wardrobes sees wardrobes, someone planning a staircase sees staircases, and both see you do it properly.

Yes. I’ll build the site around your logo and colours. If you don’t have a logo, the site can use your business name in a clean, simple style.

I build it with local SEO foundations in place. The page title, headings and copy name the joinery and carpentry you do and the towns you cover, so search engines can match you to searches like “fitted wardrobes Halifax”. That way Google knows what you do and where, and the page is quick to load on a phone. It gives you solid foundations, but no web designer can guarantee a particular position in Google. What else helps you show up locally.

Yes. The quote form asks for the room, rough sizes and photos, so you can give a ballpark price or plan a visit without going back and forth.

Yes. Customers aren’t looking for the exact job they want. They’re looking for proof you can do something like it, and the standard you work to. A gallery of your best jobs, with close-ups of the finish, shows them both.

No. We have a short call about your business and the work you want more of, you send me some photos, and I write and build the rest.

A one-page site is usually ready in about a week, a Trade site in about two weeks and a Pro site in two to three weeks. I’ll give you a date on our first call.

Yes. Send me photos of a new job, or the change you want, and I’ll update it for you. Content updates are £30 an hour, and most new-job updates are quick. New sections or design changes are quoted separately.

Yes, it’s yours once you’ve paid for it, with no lock-in. Hosting and support are included for the first 12 months. After that it’s £19 a month, rolling, so you can cancel anytime. If you do, I’ll send you the files and transfer your domain so you can host it wherever you like.
