Why a website?

People want to see the before and after before they trust you with their garden.

Most landscaping work still comes from recommendations and neighbours seeing your work, and that’s no bad thing. But a new garden is a big spend, so before someone rings, they’ll usually look you up.

Three reasons it’s worth having one

  1. Show the transformation

Gardens sell on the before and after. Finished patios, walls and lawns next to what was there before show homeowners what you could do with theirs.

  2. Get booked ahead for the season

Gardens are often planned months before the work starts. A site that’s there all year means people find you while they’re still planning.

  3. Lead with full garden builds

Full makeovers and hard landscaping up front, so you’re seen as the firm for the big jobs, not just maintenance rounds.

What I’d build for you

Everything a homeowner checks before they ring

Built around the gardens you want to build more of, with your best before-and-afters up front. The screenshots are from Calder Landscape & Build, an example design I’ve built for a landscaper.

  1. They ask “Do you do the job I need?”

Service pages that bring in the gardens you want

“Landscaper” can mean anything from a whole-garden redesign to a bit of turfing. Homeowners want to know quickly whether you take on their kind of project, and whether you design it, build it or both.

    What you get

    • Your main services near the top, led by the projects you want more of
    • Plain descriptions of each one, including materials and what the groundwork involves
    • On Trade and Pro, a separate page for each main service, like patios, walls or full gardens
    • Smaller jobs still listed, without crowding out the projects you want

Jobs your site could lead with

    • Full garden renovations
    • Patios and paving
    • Walls, steps and levels
    • Driveways
    • Fencing
    • Lawns and planting

  2. They ask “Have you done a garden like mine?”

Before-and-afters that win the big builds

A landscaping job is all about the change. Side-by-side photos of the before and after, with a line about the work, show homeowners exactly what you could do with their garden.

    What you get

    • Before-and-after photos side by side, with the town and how long it took
    • Finished projects grouped by type, so a patio customer sees patios
    • Close-ups of the detail, like pointing, edging and steps
    • Your phone photos cropped, colour-corrected and compressed so they look sharp and load fast

  3. They ask “Can I trust you with my garden?”

A reputation that wins the job before you visit

A new garden is a big spend and weeks of work outside the house. Reviews, experience and knowing how you work make the decision feel safer.

    What you get

    • Genuine Google reviews, shown near your projects
    • Your experience, insurance and memberships, like BALI, where you hold them
    • How you work, from the first visit and written quote to the finished garden
    • Only real reviews and credentials, never made-up ones
The reviews section of the Calder Landscape & Build example design: a 5.0 rating and customer quotes about a sloping garden, a patio and a full renovation

  4. They ask “Do you cover my area?”

Found by people planning a garden near you

People search for the job and the town, like “landscaper Halifax” or “patio installers Leeds”. Your site has to say clearly what you do and where before Google can match you to those searches.

    What you get

    • The towns you cover, listed on the pages that matter
    • Page titles, headings and descriptions that name your landscaping work and your area
    • Your business details set up so search engines can read them, linked to your Google Business Profile if you have one
    • On Pro, pages for the main towns you cover. Good foundations, but nobody can honestly promise a ranking

Towns covered, shown on a map, from the Calder Landscape & Build example design
  5. They ask “How do I talk through my garden?”

More enquiries turned into booked visits

Someone planning a new garden usually wants a chat or a visit before anything else. The fewer steps between them and you, the fewer enquiries slip away.

    What you get

    • Tap-to-call and WhatsApp buttons, plus a bar that stays at the bottom of the screen on phones
    • A short enquiry form that comes straight to you, with spam protection built in
    • Fields that ask what they’re planning and the postcode, so you can reply properly
    • Built and tested on phones first, and quick to load on a weak signal

Example design

A landscaper website I’ve designed

An example design that shows how a landscaper’s site would work, alongside feedback from a real client.

Calder Landscape & Build

A design I built to show what a landscaper’s site should do. It leads with whole-garden projects, shows before-and-afters side by side, and the enquiry form asks what people are planning.

Who builds it

Built by someone who knows the trades

I’ve worked in general building for over eight years. I know what it’s like to be on site all day, then quote jobs, answer customers and keep the business going around the actual work, with most of it coming from recommendations.

I’m not a landscaper, but I know the difference between a site that shows off a finished garden and one that just lists “garden services”. Yours leads with the projects you want more of and makes ringing you the easy next step. You deal with me throughout, not a sales team.

How it works

Three steps, live in as little as a week

You don’t need to become a web designer or a copywriter. A short call and some photos of your work, and I handle the writing, design and technical side.

  1. We talk it through

A short call about what you do, the projects you want more of (full gardens rather than fence repairs, say), the areas you cover and the gardens you’re proudest of.

  2. I build your website

I write the copy around those projects, pick your best before-and-afters and build the site around them. You don’t have to write a word.

  3. You approve it. I launch it.

You check it and ask for any changes. Once you’ve approved it, you pay and it goes live.

If you don’t approve it, you don’t pay.

What’s one extra job worth to you?

Move the sliders to your own numbers. This works out turnover, what customers pay you, not profit.

A Trade website is £495, paid once you’re happy with it. One or two jobs could cover it.

An illustration using your figures. It isn’t profit, and it isn’t a promise of extra work.

FAQ

Questions landscapers ask

Keep it coming. A recommendation gets your name passed on, and your site is what backs it up when someone checks you out before a big garden project. It’s also the one place with no other landscapers suggested next to you. Why word of mouth and a website work together.

No. I build your site first, you look it over and ask for any changes. You only pay once you’re happy with it. If it’s still not right for you, you walk away owing nothing.

No. Phone photos are fine, and before-and-after shots work best. If you took a photo before you started, that’s the one to send. Send me what you’ve got, and I’ll pick the best and prepare them for the site. I can also tell you which gardens are worth photographing, and you can send more to add later. How to take better photos of your work.

Yes. Each project shows the garden before and after, side by side, with the work done and the town. It’s the most persuasive thing a landscaper can show, and it’s what wins the full garden builds.

Yes. I’ll build the site around your logo and colours. If you don’t have a logo, the site can use your business name in a clean, simple style.

I build it with local SEO foundations in place. The page title, headings and copy name the landscaping work you do and the towns you cover, so search engines can match you to searches like “landscaper Halifax” or “patio installers Huddersfield”. That way Google knows what you do and where, and the page is quick to load on a phone. It gives you solid foundations, but no web designer can guarantee a particular position in Google. What else helps you show up locally.

Yes. The enquiry form asks what people are planning and when, so you can fill your diary for spring and summer while you’re still finishing this year’s jobs.

Yes. People often plan their garden over the winter and book in for spring. A site that’s there all year means they can find you, see your work and get in touch while they’re planning.

Yes. Plenty of landscapers do both. Your site can lead with the projects you want more of and still make it clear you take on smaller jobs, like fencing or turfing, so you don’t lose the work that keeps the diary full.

No. We have a short call about your business and the work you want more of, you send me some photos, and I write and build the rest.

A one-page site is usually ready in about a week, a Trade site in about two weeks and a Pro site in two to three weeks. I’ll give you a date on our first call.

Yes. Send me photos of a new job, or the change you want, and I’ll update it for you. Content updates are £30 an hour, and most new-job updates are quick. New sections or design changes are quoted separately.

Yes, it’s yours once you’ve paid for it, with no lock-in. Hosting and support are included for the first 12 months. After that it’s £19 a month, rolling, so you can cancel anytime. If you do, I’ll send you the files and transfer your domain so you can host it wherever you like.
