Why a website?

People want to see your finish before they let you into their home.

Most plastering work still comes from recommendations and other trades passing your name on, and that’s no bad thing. But before someone books you, they’ll usually look you up, and they want to know you’ll leave the place tidy.

Three reasons it’s worth having one

  1. Make your finish easy to judge

A flat, smooth wall is what you’re selling. Photos of finished rooms, ceilings and features like arches and niches show homeowners the standard you work to.

  2. Get found directly, not just through other trades

Homeowners who find you themselves give you more control over your diary and your prices.

  3. Lead with skims and feature work

Full skims and media walls up front, not just patching after the electrician’s been.

What I’d build for you

Everything a customer checks before they ring

Built around the plastering work you want more of, with your best finishes up front. The screenshots are from Northline Plastering, an example design I’ve built for a plasterer.

  1. They ask “Do you do the job I need?”

Service pages that bring in the work you want

“Plasterer” covers everything from patching a hole to skimming a whole house or building a media wall. Customers want to know quickly whether you take on their job.

    What you get

    • Your main services near the top, led by the work you want more of
    • Plain descriptions of each one, like whether you board, skim or both
    • On Trade and Pro, a separate page for each main service, like skimming, rendering or bespoke features
    • Smaller repairs still listed, without crowding out the work you want

Jobs your site could lead with

    • Skimming walls and ceilings
    • Boarding and dry lining
    • Rendering
    • Repairs and patching
    • Media walls
    • Arches and niches
The services section of the Northline Plastering example design: skimming walls and ceilings, boarding and extensions, repairs and renovations, media walls, shelving and niches, and curved features
Everyday plastering and bespoke work, side by side, from the Northline Plastering example design
  2. They ask “How good is your finish?”

Galleries that win you the full skims

A good skim is hard to photograph, but a finished room, a clean ceiling or a curved arch shows the standard you work to better than any description.

    What you get

    • Recent jobs grouped by type, from full skims to bespoke features
    • Close-ups of the finish, next to the finished room
    • Before-and-after photos where you have them
    • Your phone photos cropped, colour-corrected and compressed so they look sharp and load fast

  3. They ask “Can I trust you in my home?”

A reputation that wins you work direct

Plastering is messy work in the middle of someone’s home. Reviews, experience and knowing who’ll turn up make the decision feel safer.

    What you get

    • Genuine Google reviews, shown near your work
    • Your years in the trade, insurance and qualifications where you hold them
    • An about section, so people know who’ll be turning up and how you protect their home
    • Only real reviews and credentials, never made-up ones
The about section of the Northline Plastering example design: meet Dan, a plasterer with twelve years’ experience, with straight answers and respect for your home

  4. They ask “Do you cover my area?”

Found by homeowners searching in your area

People search for the job and the town, like “plasterer Halifax” or “skimming Leeds”. Your site has to say clearly what you do and where before Google can match you to those searches.

    What you get

    • The towns you cover, listed on the pages that matter
    • Page titles, headings and descriptions that name your plastering work and your area
    • Your business details set up so search engines can read them, linked to your Google Business Profile if you have one
    • On Pro, pages for the main towns you cover. Good foundations, but nobody can honestly promise a ranking

A clear map of the towns covered, from the Northline Plastering example design
  5. They ask “How do I get a quote?”

More quote requests, with less back and forth

Someone with a cracked ceiling usually just wants to know whether you can help and roughly when. The fewer steps between them and you, the fewer enquiries slip away.

    What you get

    • Tap-to-call and WhatsApp buttons, plus a bar that stays at the bottom of the screen on phones
    • A short enquiry form that comes straight to you, with spam protection built in
    • Fields that ask what needs doing and the postcode, so you can reply properly
    • Built and tested on phones first, and quick to load on a weak signal
The contact section of the Northline Plastering example design: phone, opening hours and areas beside a quote form asking what they need and the postcode

A design I built to show what a plasterer’s site should do. It puts everyday skimming next to bespoke work like niches and media walls, shows recent jobs up close, and introduces the person who’ll turn up.

Who builds it

Built by someone who knows the trades

I’ve worked in general building for over eight years. I know what it’s like to be on site all day, then quote jobs, answer customers and keep the business going around the actual work, with most of it coming from recommendations.

I’m not a plasterer, but I know the difference between a site that shows off a good finish and one that just lists “plastering services”. Yours leads with the work you want more of and makes ringing you the easy next step. You deal with me throughout, not a sales team.

How it works

Three steps, live in as little as a week

You don’t need to become a web designer or a copywriter. A short call and some photos of your work, and I handle the writing, design and technical side.

  1. We talk it through

A short call about what you do, the work you want more of (media walls rather than patching, say), the areas you cover and the jobs you’re proudest of.

  2. I build your website

I write the copy around that work, pick your best photos and build the site around them. You don’t have to write a word.

  3. You approve it. I launch it.

You check it and ask for any changes. Once you’ve approved it, you pay and it goes live.

If you don’t approve it, you don’t pay.

What’s one extra job worth to you?

Move the sliders to your own numbers. This works out turnover, what customers pay you, not profit.

Extra turnover

£9,600 a year

A Trade website is £495, paid once you’re happy with it. One or two jobs could cover it.

An illustration using your figures. It isn’t profit, and it isn’t a promise of extra work.

FAQ

Questions plasterers ask

Keep it coming. Other trades passing your name on is good work, and a website lets homeowners find you directly too. It’s also where people land when they’ve been given your name and want to check you out. Why word of mouth and a website work together.

No. I build your site first, you look it over and ask for any changes. You only pay once you’re happy with it. If it’s still not right for you, you walk away owing nothing.

Phone photos are fine, and you need fewer than you’d think. A finished room in good light, a clean ceiling or a curved arch shows the standard of your work. Send me what you’ve got, and I’ll pick the best and prepare them for the site. I can also tell you which jobs are worth photographing, and you can send more to add later. How to take better photos of your work.

Yes. Feature work gets its own page and gallery, so homeowners who want more than a skim can see you do it, and you get asked for the jobs that pay better.

Yes. I’ll build the site around your logo and colours. If you don’t have a logo, the site can use your business name in a clean, simple style.

I build it with local SEO foundations in place. The page title, headings and copy name the plastering work you do and the towns you cover, so search engines can match you to searches like “plasterer Halifax” or “skimming Huddersfield”. That way Google knows what you do and where, and the page is quick to load on a phone. It gives you solid foundations, but no web designer can guarantee a particular position in Google. What else helps you show up locally.

Yes. It works for both. Homeowners ask you for a quote directly, and builders or kitchen fitters checking you out see your work, your reviews and the areas you cover.

Yes. Plenty of plasterers do both. Your site can lead with the work you want more of and still make it clear you take on smaller repairs, so you don’t lose the jobs that keep the diary full.

No. We have a short call about your business and the work you want more of, you send me some photos, and I write and build the rest.

A one-page site is usually ready in about a week, a Trade site in about two weeks and a Pro site in two to three weeks. I’ll give you a date on our first call.

Yes. Send me photos of a new job, or the change you want, and I’ll update it for you. Content updates are £30 an hour, and most new-job updates are quick. New sections or design changes are quoted separately.

Yes, it’s yours once you’ve paid for it, with no lock-in. Hosting and support are included for the first 12 months. After that it’s £19 a month, rolling, so you can cancel anytime. If you do, I’ll send you the files and transfer your domain so you can host it wherever you like.
