What happens to your existing website?

Replacing a website shouldn’t mean losing what you’ve already got. I look at how yours is set up before we start, so there are no surprises.

  • Your web address

    You can normally keep your current domain name. I point it at the new site, or move it over if that’s simpler.

  • Your business email

    Email usually runs separately from your website. I check your settings before switching, so it keeps working as it should.

  • Your old site stays up

    It stays live while I build the new one. The switch itself is quick, and I time it to cause as little disruption as possible.

  • Your Google presence

    I keep your important content and point old page addresses to the right new ones. Nobody can promise rankings won’t move, but I won’t throw away what’s working.

  • Your photos, reviews and wording

    Anything worth keeping carries over, tidied up and improved. Anything that isn’t helping gets rewritten.

A link to your current site and a quick chat. I do the rest and keep you posted as it comes together.

  1. Show me your current website

    Tell me what you like, what you don’t and the work you want more of. I’ll look it over and tell you honestly what’s worth changing.

  2. I build the replacement

    I design it around your business, write the copy and reuse anything worth keeping. Your current site stays up while I work, and you can ask for changes.

  3. Approve it, then switch over

    Once you’re happy, you pay and I handle the changeover: pointing your domain, setting up redirects and checking everything works.

    If you don’t approve it, you don’t pay.

Then you don’t pay, and your old site stays exactly as it is.

No. I rebuild it from scratch, so it doesn’t matter what it was made with. Once your new site is live, you can cancel your old plan. If your domain is registered through them, I’ll help you move it.

A one-page site is usually ready to review in about a week, a Trade site in about two weeks and a Pro site in two to three weeks. I’ll give you a date on our first call.

Your new site comes with 12 months’ free hosting, so you won’t need your old hosting once it’s live. Your domain can usually stay where it’s registered. I’ll tell you what to cancel, and when, so nothing drops out.

Sometimes, yes. If your site only needs a few fixes, I’ll say so rather than sell you a new one. A free website check is a good place to start. What to check when a site isn’t bringing in work.

Yes. Send me what you want changing, like new job photos or an updated service, and I’ll sort it. Content updates are £30 an hour, and most take minutes.
