Why a website?

People want proof you’re qualified and insured before you go up their tree.

Plenty of tree work comes from recommendations and from neighbours who watched you work, and that’s no bad thing. But tree work is risky and expensive, so people check you out properly before they let you near the house.

Three reasons it’s worth having one

  1. Show the tickets and the insurance

Anyone can buy a chainsaw. Your certificates, your insurance and the standard you work to, shown up front, set you apart from the cash-in-hand crews.

  2. Explain the job in plain English

Most people don’t know a reduction from a thinning. Explaining what each job does builds trust, and stops you being compared on price alone.

  3. Be the one they find after a storm

When a tree comes down, people search on their phone and ring the first firm that looks right. A clear emergency number on every page puts that call through to you.

What I’d build for you

Everything a homeowner checks before letting you climb their tree

Built around the jobs you want more of, with your work and credentials up front. The screenshots are from Highbough Tree Care, an example design I’ve built for a tree surgeon.

  1. They ask “Do you do what my tree needs?”

Service pages that bring in the bigger jobs

People search for the job, like crown reduction, tree removal or stump grinding. They want to see you do it, what it involves and roughly what it costs.

    What you get

    • Your services explained plainly, with what each one involves
    • “From” prices where you’re happy to give them
    • On Trade and Pro, a page for each main service, like felling or stump grinding
    • Emergency and storm work made obvious

Jobs your site could lead with

    • Crown reductions
    • Thinning and lifting
    • Sectional felling
    • Stump grinding
    • Hedge reductions
    • Storm damage
The services section of the Highbough Tree Care example design: crown reduction, thinning and lifting, sectional felling and more, each with a photo and a starting price
Each service with a photo and a starting price, from the Highbough Tree Care example design
  2. They ask “What’s the difference between a reduction and a thin?”

A plain-English guide to the work

Customers often ask for the wrong job because they don’t know the words. A simple guide to reducing, thinning, lifting and felling shows you know your stuff and gets them asking for the right thing.

    What you get

    • Each type of tree work explained in a sentence or two
    • A simple diagram showing what each job does to the tree
    • When each job is right, and when it isn’t
    • Written around the way you work and what you recommend

  3. They ask “Are you qualified and insured?”

Credentials and reviews that win the quote

Tree work goes wrong expensively. Your certificates, your insurance and reviews that mention a careful, tidy job make people comfortable paying for it done properly.

    What you get

    • Genuine Google reviews, shown near your work
    • Your qualifications, insurance and any memberships, where you hold them
    • How you handle protected trees and nesting birds, explained plainly
    • Only real reviews and credentials, nothing made up
The reviews section of the Highbough Tree Care example design: three reviews about a sycamore near a garage, a protected tree and storm damage

  4. They ask “Do you cover my area?”

Found by homeowners searching in your area

People search for the job and the town, like “tree surgeon Huddersfield” or “stump grinding Holmfirth”. Your site has to say clearly what you do and where before Google can match you to those searches.

    What you get

    • The towns you cover, listed on the pages that matter
    • Page titles, headings and descriptions that name your tree work and your area
    • Your business details set up so search engines can read them, linked to your Google Business Profile if you have one
    • On Pro, pages for the main towns you cover. Good foundations, but nobody can honestly promise a ranking
The areas section of the Highbough Tree Care example design: Huddersfield, Holmfirth, Honley, Lindley, Marsden, Slaithwaite, Meltham, Kirkburton and Brighouse
The towns covered, listed clearly, from the Highbough Tree Care example design
  5. They ask “Can you come and look at it?”

Quote requests with the details you need

Tree work is priced on the tree, the access and what’s underneath it. A form that asks what they think it needs and how soon, plus a WhatsApp button for photos, gets you an enquiry you can plan a visit around.

    What you get

    • Tap-to-call and WhatsApp buttons, plus a bar that stays at the bottom of the screen on phones
    • A short enquiry form that comes straight to you, with spam protection built in
    • Fields that ask what they think the tree needs, how urgent it is and their postcode, so you can reply properly
    • Built and tested on phones first, and quick to load on a weak signal

Who builds it

Built by someone who knows the trades

I’ve worked in general building for over eight years. I know what it’s like to be on site all day, then quote jobs, answer customers and keep the business going around the actual work, with most of it coming from recommendations.

I’m not a tree surgeon, so the details come from you. My job is to put your work, credentials and reviews up front and make asking for a quote the easy next step. You deal with me throughout, not a sales team.

How it works

Three steps, live in as little as a week

You don’t need to become a web designer or a copywriter. A short call and some photos of your work, and I handle the writing, design and technical side.

  1. We talk it through

A short call about the work you do, the jobs you want more of (reductions and removals rather than hedge trims, say), your qualifications and the areas you cover.

  2. I build your website

I write the copy around those jobs, pick your best photos, climbing shots included, and build the site around them. You don’t have to write a word.

  3. You approve it. I launch it.

You check it and ask for any changes. Once you’ve approved it, you pay and it goes live.

If you don’t approve it, you don’t pay.

Pricing

Every package includes custom design, copy written for you, your own domain, 12 months’ hosting and local search setup. New site or redesign, you see it before you pay.

After the first year, hosting is £19 a month. It’s rolling, so you can cancel anytime.

What’s one extra job worth to you?

Move the sliders to your own numbers. This works out turnover, what customers pay you, not profit.

Extra turnover

£9,600 a year

A Trade website is £495, paid once you’re happy with it. One or two jobs could cover it.

An illustration using your figures. It isn’t profit, and it isn’t a promise of extra work.

FAQ

Questions tree surgeons ask

Keep it coming. A recommendation gets your name passed on, and your site is what backs it up when someone checks you out before letting you near their trees. It’s also the one place with no other tree surgeons suggested next to you. Why word of mouth and a website work together.

No. I build your site first, you look it over and ask for any changes. You only pay once you’re happy with it. If it’s still not right for you, you walk away owing nothing.

No. Phone photos are fine. A climber in the crown, a before-and-after of a reduction or a cleared garden all make good pictures. Send me what you’ve got and I’ll prepare them for the site. How to take better photos of your work.

Yes, near the top. Your certificates, your insurance cover and any memberships you hold are what set you apart. I only put on what you actually hold, and you can send copies so I get the wording right.

Yes. I’ll build the site around your logo and colours. If you don’t have a logo, the site can use your business name in a clean, simple style.

I build it with local SEO foundations in place. The page title, headings and copy name the tree work you do and the towns you cover, so search engines can match you to searches like “tree surgeon Huddersfield” or “stump grinding Holmfirth”. That way Google knows what you do and where, and the page is quick to load on a phone. It gives you solid foundations, but no web designer can guarantee a particular position in Google. What else helps you show up locally.

Yes, and it’s worth doing. A short section on how you check for Tree Preservation Orders, conservation areas and nesting birds shows you do things properly, and answers a question many customers have.

Yes. If you take storm and emergency work, the number can sit near the top of every page and in the bar on phones, so people can ring you straight away.

No. We have a short call about your business and the work you want more of, you send me some photos, and I write and build the rest.

A one-page site is usually ready in about a week, a Trade site in about two weeks and a Pro site in two to three weeks. I’ll give you a date on our first call.

Yes. Send me photos of a new job, or the change you want, and I’ll update it for you. Content updates are £30 an hour, and most new-job updates are quick. New sections or design changes are quoted separately.

Yes, it’s yours once you’ve paid for it, with no lock-in. Hosting and support are included for the first 12 months. After that it’s £19 a month, rolling, so you can cancel anytime. If you do, I’ll send you the files and transfer your domain so you can host it wherever you like.
