Why a website?

People want to know you’re qualified before they let you near their electrics.

Most electrical work still comes from recommendations, landlords and repeat customers, and that’s no bad thing. But customers can’t judge wiring, so before they ring, they check you.

Three reasons it’s worth having one

  1. Make your credentials easy to check

Your registration, 18th Edition and insurance shouldn’t be buried in an old post. On your own site they sit near the top, where people look before they let you in.

  2. Get found by landlords and agents

Landlords and letting agents need EICRs and certificates done properly. They search, compare and book, so a site that shows you do this work makes you an easy choice.

  3. Lead with the work you want

Rewires, EV chargers and consumer units up front, so you’re not just the person people call to change a light fitting.

What I’d build for you

Everything a customer checks before they ring

Built around the jobs you want more of, with your credentials front and centre. The screenshots are from Calder Electrics, an example design I’ve built for an electrician.

  1. They ask “Are you qualified and registered?”

Credentials up front, so they pick you

Most customers can’t judge the wiring, so they judge you. Your registration, qualifications and reviews are what they check before letting you in.

    What you get

    • Whichever scheme you’re registered with, plus 18th Edition and your insurance, near the top
    • Genuine Google reviews, shown near your work
    • An about section, so people know who’ll be turning up
    • Only registrations, logos and reviews you actually hold, never made-up ones
The top of the Calder Electrics example design: NICEIC Approved Contractor, 18th Edition, fully insured and established 2013, right under the headline
Registrations and insurance right under the headline, from the Calder Electrics example design
  2. They ask “Do you do the job I need?”

Service pages that bring in the jobs you want

“Electrician” covers everything from a new socket to a full rewire. People want to know quickly whether you take on their job, and whether you work for homeowners, landlords or businesses.

    What you get

    • Your main services near the top, led by the jobs you want more of
    • Plain descriptions of each one, split for homeowners, landlords and businesses where that fits
    • On Trade and Pro, a separate page for each main service, like rewires, EICRs or EV chargers
    • Everything else you do still listed, without crowding out the work you want

Jobs your site could lead with

    • Rewires
    • Consumer units
    • EICRs for landlords
    • EV chargers
    • Lighting
    • Fault finding
    • Commercial work

  3. They ask “Is your work tidy?”

Tidy, finished jobs that win you the next one

Electrical work doesn’t always photograph well, but a neat consumer unit, a finished lighting job or an EV charger on a drive tells customers how you’ll treat their home.

    What you get

    • Recent jobs grouped by type, with a line about each one
    • Close-ups of tidy work, like a new consumer unit, next to the finished result
    • How long typical jobs take, so people know what to expect
    • Your phone photos cropped, colour-corrected and compressed so they look sharp and load fast
The recent jobs section of the Calder Electrics example design: a consumer-unit upgrade, a full rewire and a home EV charger, each with how long it took and the result

  4. They ask “Do you cover my area?”

Found by people searching in your area

People search for the job and the town, like “EICR Halifax” or “electrician Leeds”. Your site has to say clearly what you do and where before Google can match you to those searches.

    What you get

    • The towns you cover, listed on the pages that matter
    • Page titles, headings and descriptions that name your electrical work and your area
    • Your business details set up so search engines can read them, linked to your Google Business Profile if you have one
    • On Pro, pages for the main towns you cover. Good foundations, but nobody can honestly promise a ranking
The areas section of the Calder Electrics example design: based in Halifax and working across Calderdale, with the towns listed beside common questions
Towns covered, listed clearly, from the Calder Electrics example design
  5. They ask “How quickly can I get hold of you?”

More enquiries, because getting hold of you is quick

When the power keeps tripping, people want someone fast. The fewer steps between them and you, the fewer enquiries slip away.

    What you get

    • Tap-to-call and WhatsApp buttons, plus a bar that stays at the bottom of the screen on phones
    • A short enquiry form that comes straight to you, with spam protection built in
    • Fields that ask for the type of job and the postcode, so you can reply properly
    • Built and tested on phones first, and quick to load on a weak signal

Example design

An electrician website I’ve designed

An example design that shows how an electrician’s site would work, alongside feedback from a real client.

A design I built to show what an electrician’s site should do. Registrations and insurance sit right under the headline, services are split for homeowners, landlords and businesses, and the quote form asks for the job and postcode.

Who builds it

Built by someone who knows the trades

I’ve worked in general building for over eight years. I know what it’s like to be on site all day, then quote jobs, answer customers and keep the business going around the actual work, with most of it coming from recommendations.

I’m not an electrician, so the details come from you. My job is to put your registrations, services and reviews up front and make ringing you the easy next step. You deal with me throughout, not a sales team.

How it works

Three steps, live in as little as a week

You don’t need to become a web designer or a copywriter. A short call and some photos of your work, and I handle the writing, design and technical side.

  1. We talk it through

A short call about what you do, the jobs you want more of (rewires, EICRs or EV chargers, say), the areas you cover and the registrations you hold.

  2. I build your website

I write the copy around those jobs, set out your services and credentials, and build the site around them. You don’t have to write a word.

  3. You approve it. I launch it.

You check it and ask for any changes. Once you’ve approved it, you pay and it goes live.

If you don’t approve it, you don’t pay.

What’s one extra job worth to you?

Move the sliders to your own numbers. This works out turnover, what customers pay you, not profit.

A Trade website is £495, paid once you’re happy with it. One or two jobs could cover it.

An illustration using your figures. It isn’t profit, and it isn’t a promise of extra work.

FAQ

Questions electricians ask

Keep them coming. A recommendation gets your name passed on, and your site is what backs it up when someone checks. It’s also the one place with no other electricians suggested next to you. Why word of mouth and a website work together.

No. I build your site first, you look it over and ask for any changes. You only pay once you’re happy with it. If it’s still not right for you, you walk away owing nothing.

Yes, whichever scheme you’re registered with. It goes near the top, alongside qualifications like 18th Edition and your insurance, so customers see it straight away. I only show registrations and logos you actually hold.

I build it with local SEO foundations in place. The page title, headings and copy name the work you do and the towns you cover, so search engines can match you to searches like “EICR Halifax”. That way Google knows what you do and where, and the page is quick to load on a phone. It gives you solid foundations, but no web designer can guarantee a particular position in Google. What else helps you show up locally.

Yes. The quote form asks whether it’s a landlord certificate, how many properties and when it’s due, so you get everything you need to price it without a phone call.

Phone photos are fine, and you need fewer than you’d think. A tidy consumer unit, a finished lighting job or an EV charger on a drive shows customers how neat your work is. Send me what you’ve got, and I’ll pick the best and prepare them for the site. I can also tell you which jobs are worth photographing, and you can send more to add later. How to take better photos of your work.

If it’s work you want more of, yes. On Trade and Pro each main service gets its own page, so someone searching for an EV charger installer near you lands on a page about exactly that, not a general list of everything you do.

Yes. I’ll build the site around your logo and colours. If you don’t have a logo, the site can use your business name in a clean, simple style.

No. We have a short call about your business and the work you want more of, you send me some photos, and I write and build the rest.

A one-page site is usually ready in about a week, a Trade site in about two weeks and a Pro site in two to three weeks. I’ll give you a date on our first call.

Yes. Send me photos of a new job, or the change you want, and I’ll update it for you. Content updates are £30 an hour, and most new-job updates are quick. New sections or design changes are quoted separately.

Yes, it’s yours once you’ve paid for it, with no lock-in. Hosting and support are included for the first 12 months. After that it’s £19 a month, rolling, so you can cancel anytime. If you do, I’ll send you the files and transfer your domain so you can host it wherever you like.
